Hello again. I posted my site a few days ago for review, but no takers. Hopefully you guys aren't of the, "if you have nothing nice to say, say nothing at all" mantra.

Please have a peek at my custom template, and let me know what's bad, what's good, what needs to go, change, etc. I am aware of some minor rendering issues in IE, but haven't had a chance to do a thorough review with Safari or Opera yet.

    Thank you!

Nice looking site... I like how your pictures switch over and the comments change in the "design" area.

This site has potential. The look is light and happy but there are a few things that don't quite work for me:

    1. The font color does not have quite enough contrast to be read comfortably.

    2. The header font in the LH column and the horizontal navigation is unreadable at my browser font setting.

    3. Since the LH column is a fixed width, the page doesn't look balanced at a smaller window size - the blog column gets very narrow - and the scroll bar gets pushed almost off-screen. I have never seen that happen before.

    4. The link colors are also too faded for good readability and the red underline looks kinda funky.

    5. Your font sizing could also use a little tweaking. I totally revised the default WordPress values for a site I recently did to get it 'right'. Flexible font sizing (or lack thereof) is a concern. You might want to check out this thread for some discussion, including responses from Zeldman and Meyer about why they do what they do which really, REALLY doesn't work for me: http://www.sitepoint.com/forums/showthread.php?t=309991

Check it out and good luck with your site.

Earther, thank you so much for your thoughtful post; I really appreciate the feedback.

A couple things in my defense...

While the site is readable at an 800x600 screen res, I made a conscious effort (based on my target audience) to create a design best suited for 1024x768 and higher.

I read through the Sitepoint forum regarding font size - some interesting points of view. On the one hand, I have to agree with ALA: you decided to change your default font size, which is atypical. I use percentages and ems to scale fonts and they are, of course, legible when increased for people with vision problems.

On the other hand, it seems like a fairly easy CSS fix for those of you who shrink the default browser font size.

The visited link colors are definitely muted, but that again was intentional. I'll bounce the issue off a few others, and get more feedback.

Again, thank you for your remarks.
