I’m having a little trouble with the Permalink for one of my Pages.
During setting up and working out the structure of my site, I created a Page called “Blog”.
After a few days, I deleted that page, and after another few days, I created a new Page called “Blog”. I noticed that the Permalink for this new page was not /blog/ as I expected, but /blog-1/.
After deleting it and again re-creating a newer Page called “Blog”, I find that its Permalink is now /blog-2/.
I’ve tried renaming the Permalink back to /blog/ with the “Change Permalinks” button on the Edit Page screen, but WP won’t let me – it keeps appending a number to the end of the name.
It seems to me that my earlier attempts at creating Pages named “Blog” have somehow “locked” that name from being re-used. How can I flush or clear these old references to /blog/ so I can use that Permalink again?
(I’ve read in the Forums that it’s possible to refresh the Permalink structure from the “Permalink Settings” screen, but these seem to be old posts and may not refer to the current version of WP [3.01]. I don’t see any button to refresh the Permalink structure on my “Permalink Settings” screen.)
Any and all assistance gratefully appreciated!
P.S. I’m using “Pretty” Permalinks (/%year%/%monthnum%/%postname%/)
