Hey all! I'm having trouble with permalinks. I've gone to the permalinks settings section, and tried checking off any number of the options that wordpress offers, with no luck; when I go to check out my website, the pages are missing until I switch the setting back to default.
Any advice?
Are you getting a message "If your htaccess file was writible . . .

No, I'm not getting any messages at all. Everything seems fine until I try and look at my webpage, and then everything except the homepage doesn't work :(
Any ideas?
I presume you are using custom have you used something like /%postname%/
by default I presume you mean =id in permlink
Check with your hosts that mod_rewrite is running on your server.

you presume correctly:) I tried /%postname%/ and /archives/%post_id%, but had to revert back to the original permalink (something like http://www.xxx.com/?p=123
I figured those first two options--since supplied by the settings panel itself, should work, but they do not :(
