Support » Fixing WordPress » Trouble updating pages due to caching

  • I have been having problems making small updates to my WordPress site because small changes to the template pages have not been picked up by the WordPress CMS (I assume this is a caching issue).

I have put in diagnostic content like changiing text between uploading versions to ensure that the page changes have been included and they are not showing up. It is clear that older code is still being used. Is there anyway to force the cache to be updated?

    Thanks,

    Nigel

  • What caching plugin are you using? Most have an option to either a) empty the cache, or b) don’t cache for logged in users.

I don’t have any plugin for caching… Is that the answer 😉

WordPress itself doesn’t have a cache. Are you remebering to press CTRL and F5 simultaneously when viewing an updated page/site. Or try emptying your browser cache? Could your hosts or your ISP be operating a cache?

    Hi Esmi,

The problem I am seeing is not consistent. I have since been able to apply changes and have now managed to update the site successfully.

I had cleared both Firefox’s and IE’s cache yesterday and been using CTRL+F5 without any real success. From time to time I believe all ISPs go through a caching issue and I guess I just hit the one for mine tonight.

Being new to WordPress I just put the question in case their were any tricks I don’t yet know about.

Thanks to you and Gary for taking the time to look at my question.
