[resolved] Trouble styling different catagories of links using css (3 posts)

Hello. I am in the process of converting a html website to a WordPress compatible theme for a project I am working on. It is the first time I have attemped a WP theme and by no means am I looking to release it.

I seem to be having a lot of trouble using css to style different catagories of links. I've spent more time in the last couple of days trying to figure out what I am doing wrong than I did with the rest of the theme.

The site is viewable at http://bantros.net/wasd

To try and explain what I mean I'll give an example of what I am trying to do. At the minute all the links (apart from the sidebar, which I successfully modified) are default, there are no stylings applied to them. What I would like to do is have different styles of links for the different sections of the blog, one style for the post title, one style for the "filed under" links, one style for the "logged in as" and another style for the footer.

Obviously I am doing something very wrong because when I try to define the link css for the footer, it is applying that style to the rest of the links. Sorry if the post is a bit long winded but I would very much appreciate any help, thanks

    1) in general search for = css selectors and inheritance

    2) here is a thread that discusses the concept of assigning styles to this or that...
