• Hi there,

I am trying to install WordPress manually and have gotten stuck trying setup wp-config.php. I’ve entered all the right info (including verifying DB hostname with my webhost)- yet I still get an error msg. I also manually edited the config file w/ DB info and am getting same error msg when trying to run install.php

    ————————————
    Error establishing a database connection
This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect or we can’t contact the database server at mysql4.myregisteredsite.com. This could mean your host’s database server is down.

Are you sure you have the correct username and password?
Are you sure that you have typed the correct hostname?
Are you sure that the database server is running?
If you’re unsure what these terms mean you should probably contact your host. If you still need help you can always visit the WordPress Support Forums.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

    Sarah

  • Check your database details with your hosts.

As I stated in my original post, I’ve already verified the DB details w/ webhost. Any other suggestions?

If the database details are correct, and you are entering them correctly, then it should work.

If your host have sent your details via email on in a ticket (somewhere you can copy and paste), try copying what they sent you. But do so via a simple text editor like notepad or textpad. This will help remove any ambiguous or extraneous characters.

    Do triple check !!
Make sure the host is not “localhost” and your database is exist.

Recheck and see you do not have any space when you copying
