   Hi, I'm trying to sign up at wordpress.com for the username 'sandyshores' to get an API key for Akismet. I'm getting an error saying the username already exists.

   Since I'm using that username for WordPress Support, I thought that might be why it already exists. So, I tried signing into wordpress.com with that username and password, but then I get an error saying "wrong username".

   Password recovery also says the username doesn't exist.

   So I'm stumped. It says the username exists but then it says it doesn't. So how do I get an Akismet API key for the username 'sandyshores'? :)

   Ahhh well, I see. Then shouldn't it have recognized the username at least instead of telling me it didn't exist? Seems confusing at best. :)

   I'll choose another for the API key, thanks so much!

   Nothing is confusing. Re-read your first 2 sentences in your initial post. It told you the name already exists. You just didn't get it...
