trouble outputting blog posts on an image background

Im super new to wordpress and having a tough time getting my posts to output correctly.

Basically if you look at the screen shot, what i’m trying to do is have my blog posts show up in the ‘featured_section’ box which is it’s own .php
I want the box to be dynamic to fit the size of all the blog posts, so it will continue to scroll. Right now i have it set as the background image in the featured_section.php file.
Im just not sure where to go from here, or what file i should be editing. Any advice?
