trouble making child page – 2013 theme

    I am trying to make a child page of the 2013 theme.
    I followed all the info online, FTP’ed a child folder, made style.css.
    Now can’t activate the child theme because I have a template missing message.

    How do you get inside the child theme folder to make a template????
    Where is the child theme folder???

    This is what I read on the internet-
    Inside your child theme folder, create a php-file named “my-template.php” or whatever you want to call it. The first code in this file should be:
