Trouble loading new theme

Brand new to wordpress…and blogs altogether for that matter! I found a theme that I liked and downloaded it. I followed the instructions for using cPanel file manager except when it said to upload the zip file then extract, the uploader would not grab the zip file – I had to unzip then upload each individual file into the wp-content/themes folder.

After the individual files were uploaded, I created the same sub-folders that the original zipped file contained and moved the appropriate files into their respective folders.

From there, the wordpress instructions said to go to the administration panel, select design and then themes and the new theme would be there to select. Well, it isn’t. Any ideas what may have happened or how else I can get the new them to load?
