• So I backed up my sql server, and all the folders (such as wp-content) and uploaded them and changed the sql server information in the wp-config for the new host. I also uploaded all the folders from the old site using the FTP, however now when I go in none of my old site is showing up other than plugs/themes. What am I doing wrong? Where is my old site design and posts, etc? Sorry I am new to this and trying to figure it out.

I’ve tried that, but the databases seem to not be linking up.

    [No bumping, thank you.]

I think I may have figured out my issue, I copied the full wp folder and sub folders such as wp-content but did not use the export tool within wordpress from my old host. That’s why my site design and posts are not showing up. Any way to remedy this?

You’ll have to contact your old host to get a copy of your database or access to it to export the content.

Even though I have the WP database and sql database?

I’m curious if the posts/layout are hidden somewhere in these folders/database that I’m just not seeing.

Is the database content on your new server? Have you asked your hosting company for help with that?

    What is the URL?

I think they figured it out for me, they said there were multiple prefixes in the sql database under $table_prefix = ‘wp_’; and it didn’t know what to point to. I picked the largest one figuring it was most up to date and things appear to be working. Would keeping the other prefixes in the database have an hindrance to site performance?
