    Hi,

I have been attempting to connect my blog to Google+ via Publicize in Jetpack. When I do so, I am allowed to select which account (person or page) I want to use. Then I either get

    1) a return to the same page to select which account to authorise (this happens if I select the business page that I manage), and then an “error 400 unauthorized request” page, or
    2) a page asking to give permission to Google+ etc etc. When I click accept, the Accept button is then greyed out, and nothing happens. I see a long oauth token in the URL but no further progress is made.
    3) a redirect back to the WP admin home page of my site (I am working in a subdirectory) – and when I check back in the sharing settings of the subdirectory installation, google+ has not been linked.

I have tried this on two different computers, via my iPad and phone, in incognito mode, after deleting all cookies, and in Chrome, Safari and Internet Explorer. I have de-activated the authorisation of the wordpress app on my gmail account (at one stage I was getting the “give this app permission to work offline” error, and found how to fix that here), and have tried doing this signed in and out of my google account. None of the above have worked.

Has anyone seen this before? Any ideas what could be causing it?

    Thanks very much!

    Clare

Your site doesn’t seem to be properly connected to WordPress.com at the moment. Could you go to the Jetpack menu in your dashboard, and disconnect and reconnect to WordPress.com?

Once you’ve done so, you’ll need to reset your Google+ connection by following the instructions here:
    http://jetpack.me/support/publicize/google/#reconnecting-google

Let me know if it helps.

Thank you Jeremy, that worked! I disconnected and reconnected Jetpack, and then connected a personal google+ page.

For the business page, the prompt asked for offline access (I’d checked that the account that manages the page didn’t already have wordpress authorised, but I still got that instead of the “allow this app to share content with your circles” message). I clicked accept anyway, and it seems to be connected – the sharing settings page in wordpress says that it is.

I’ll keep an eye on it and make sure that it is receiving the posts – there’s one scheduled for tomorrow – and if so I’ll resolve this issue. Many thanks for your help!

When I disconnected and reconnected Jetpack, my stats disappeared – I gather this is because a new id or something has been generated for my blog. Are you able to set it back to the old one please? Thanks!

Yay! The sharing is working. Featured images don’t seem to be coming through, but otherwise it looks fine.

    The two pages are:

Thank you SO much for adding this functionality.

Yep, your Jetpack settings were set to use your old site URL, without /blog.

I have fixed the issue, and you should be able to get your Stats and Subscribers back by going to the Jetpack menu in your dashboard, and disconnecting / reconnecting to WordPress.com.

Thank you SO much for the help. You are truly the engineer of happiness!

[I thought the featured image not appearing in google+ was because there were multiple open graph tags (I had a plugin that was adding them, so is Jetpack, and so is my theme). I have disabled all of them except for the ones in my theme, but no luck yet. But the main issue is resolved, thank you!]

Google+ does indeed use Open Graph meta tags to generate its previews. If these are managed by your theme, I would suggest that you run some tests to make sure tags are properly created for each one of your posts from now on.

I am having the same problem. I have deactivated jetpack and reactivated it, but the issue has not been resolved. Any ideas?
