Trouble accessing install.php (4 posts)

    Hi,

I've installed WordPress a few time before & not had any problems, but now I can't get to the install.php screen, instead seeing a 404 error.

I can access non-php file like readme.html, so the files have copied across OK.

I'm not sure if I have entered the correct info into my wp-config file; on my hosting site I am given Domain, Server, Hostname, DB Name, & Password.

Probably a stupid question, but what do I put for DB_USER?

Or is there something else I'm doing wrong?

    Thanks!

If your wp-config.php info was wrong, you'd get a database connection error message - not a 404. Try re-uploading all files & folders from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

    Hi,

Thanks for getting back to me.
I tried deleting everything and reinstalling, but still getting the same 404.

Is there anything else I might be able to try?

All I can suggest is that you contact your hosts about this. It may be a server configuration issue.
