Tried Changing Permalink Settings and now I can't access my blog (9 posts)

    Hi.

    I tried changing my Permalink setting from the default to Month & Name and then tried it by posting a temporary post, titled A Test

    When this didn't work ( just got the Oops! This link appears to be broken error). I reverted back to the default setting. I then deleted the temporary

    However, whenever I now try to visit my blog page http://jeffturnbull.com/blog it instead tries to visit http://jeffturnbull.com/blog/2010/12/a-test/ and comes up with the Oops! This link appears to be broken. error.

    Does anyone know why it has not reset itself back to the default setting but more importantly how do I resolve this problem so that it does go back to the Permalink default setting and that JeffTurnbull.com/blog will work agaon.

    Thanking you in advance

    Jeff

    This was the first thing that I did.

    I can still access the individual Pages and Blog Posts ok, for example http://jeffturnbull.com/blog/?p=1074 it's just the entry page that I'm having problems with

    @Holdam,

    This is strange indeed. First thing to check is that you have an .htaccess file in the /blog/ directory (same place as your WP files). Just make sure it exists. If it does it may be helpful to post it here for others to check.

    Second (or maybe first), make sure your host allows mod rewrite.

    @awarner20

    Thanks. I'm not sure what this means but I will pass your suggestion onto my host

    you need to de-activate the redirection or caching plugin you have
    visit your blog as normal
    try permalinks change
    re-activate plugin when ready

    Hi Samuel.

    Thanks for your advice.

    I have now deleted the redirection plug-in. I checked my permalink is at 'default' and then re-activated the redirection plug-in but I still get directed to:
    http://jeffturnbull.com/blog/2010/12/a-test/

    Anything else I need to be doing?

    Samuel.

    In the end I have kept the Redirection plug in deactivated all appears to be ok.

    Thanks everyone for your suggestions.

    Jeff
