Tricks Tips and Pitfalls to avoid when housekeeping and re-installing

Hello All,

I have been running my wordpress site for a few years now and it has all become a bit messy and has been hacked a couple of times in the past few months.

I have decided to go into my c-panel and Server and do a clearout and and a clean reinstall I want to remove all of the plugins and excess themes and start again from the ground up – but still maintain my content.

Is there any advice that you smarter people can give me?
I will be backing up my post content from within wordpress and relinking it. How do I ensure that all my media doesn’t get lost too?

How do I ensure that any potential corrupted or hacked files don’t get copied as well?
