[resolved] Translation support 2 [codestyling localization] (13 posts)

    Hi,

I've used the plugin CodeStyling Localization to translate commentpress core into french.
The translation went OK (I'd be glad to give the files to anyone who'd like it, BTW) but my site won't use the plugin po/mo files, even though they are properly named and placed. Strangely, the template po/mo files (created by and translated thanks to CodeStyling Localization) seems to work fine.

I'm a writer, not a developer, so my knowledge won't go as far as that ;)

The site is http://apolog.noenaute.fr and I can make you an admin-user account, if you need one.
The site will display my third open-source / public domain novel, and I really look forward to use comment press to experiment another way of sharing with my readers.

Hi Pouhlou, where are you placing your po/mo files?

    Hi,

There are a commentpress-core-fr_FR.po and .mo files in wpcontent/plugins/commentpress-core/langages .

I can't seem to find any langage folder nor any po/mo file under wpcontent/plugins/commentpress-core/themes subfolders. So I don't know where the Codestyling Localization plugin put the translation it made me do for both the commentpress-core modern & default themes.

Okay, great, that's where they ought to be - as I understand it. Neither theme has a languages folder since they both use the plugin's textdomain. Could you put a zip file up somewhere so I can download the po/mo files and test for myself?

Oh, and are you aware that the .pot file included with the plugin is out of date? The 3.5 file can be found here on GitHub.

    Cheers, Christian

Here is the zip with my po/mo file : http://we.tl/U1k9qRWbvD

Thanks for the new .pot file.
I'll try to upload it to the commentpress-core/langages folder via ftp, and then refresh my po/mo files with codestyling localization to see if they are new things to translate (if this proceeding's not right, please do tell me, as I don't know how one should do ^^).

Oh my gosh I am so sorry.
It was a classical PEBCAK : I forgot to ask my translation plugin to generate the new .mo file once my translation acheived (I did it halfway through, hence the partial translation on my website).
    I am really sorry.
Now I can see how my translation behave, I'm gonna do some final adjustments and then should I give it to you on this thread ?

My apologies once again, I'm really not a coder ;).

Hey no problem Pouhiou, I'm glad things are starting to shape up. I am new to the translation and localisation process, so appreciate any and all help myself.

I notice that the "0 comments on" string isn't able to be translated. I really need to rethink how I build that string. Languages will presumably vary in how that sentence gets constructed and I need to respect that in the code. Will revamp that for the next release. Let me know if you encounter any other problems.

Regarding the po/mo files, yes please, send them to me via this thread or by email and i'll include them in the next release too.

    Many thanks!

Pouhiou, I took the liberty of including your .po and .mo files in the latest release. Will include a credit in the next update. Many thanks in advance!

    Hi,

    That's a great news.
I have a more recent version of these files, but won't be at home in the next 5 hours or so... Can it wait untill then ?

    Hi,

So here are my news po/mo files (based on the 3.5.2 release of you plugin : http://we.tl/IAXWiOoWpt.
If you go on http://apolog.noenaute.fr/, you'll see that the main word left to traslate is the "on" (= "sur" in french) in the comments column, in the sentences "X comments on paragraph N" that translates into "X commentaires on le paragraphe N", but should be translated into "X commentraire sur le paragraphe N".

I couldn't find this litte linkword in my file to be translated...

And BTW, not every sentence has been tested yet, so this translation is yet to be improved !

    I hope this will help,
    Pouhiou.
