Codestyling Localization
[resolved] Translating into Welsh? (2 posts)

    Hi there,

I'm working on a theme that needs to support English (en_GB) and Welsh (cy). I was hoping to use codestyling localization to translate the gettext messages in my theme.

When I installed your plugin, it didn't find the WordPress cy.mo file, and when I tried to add a language for my theme, Welsh (cy) wasn't in the list of languages.

Is Welsh not supported? Is there an easy way for me to add Welsh to the list? 700,000+ people speak the language, so there must surely be others needing this too?

    Thanks in advance

...actually I think I've answered my own question. In this thread:

you mention that the plugin doesn't yet support two character locales, which would mean Welsh (cy) isn't supported, which is a shame.

For anyone else who runs into this, there's an alternative I'm currently trying out that translates gettext messages on the fly:
http://wordpress.org/plugins/quick-localization/ It seems to be working okay so far...

If you do get codestyling working for two char locales, I'd definitely give this plugin another go; it looks fairly comprehensive.

    thanks
