Translate snowblind into Bulgarian

    I want to translate the “snowblind” theme into Bulgarian for one of my blogs which is entirely in Bulgarian.

    What is the best way to translate the snowblind theme into Bulgarian? I could just replace the English text at all files (like header.php and index.php) but if I upgrade some day to a newer version of the theme, I will lose the translation.

    Does anybody have a better idea for translation?

    • duplicate the file snowblind.po inside the /languages folder.
    • rename it to snowblind-bg_BG.po
    • your wp-config must have the WPLANG set to bg_BG
    • you’ll need Poedit to make the translation with ease
    • after translating and saving, Poedit will create the .mo file that is read by WP
    • make a backup of your final translation, so it’s not overwritten by an update
    • maybe you will find some strings that are not formated for translation inside the theme
    • in that case, you should consider making a child theme to make direct modifications
