Transform a reply to comment into a normal comment

    Does any one know of any simple way to transform a comment that is a reply to another comment into an “independant” comment?

    Some people click on the “Reply” link instead of using the comment form.
    Then, it’s pretty complicated and painful to correct this:

    – You have to save the email address, url, comment and date somewhere
    – Delete the erroneous comment
    – Sign out to post it right
    – Sign in as an admin to approve it

    I can’t think of any built-in way to do it. If you don’t want people hitting reply, you could just disallow nested comments.
