Transferring from .com/wp to just .com (2 posts)

My site is http://www.bradavis.com/wp, but I want to eliminate the /wp from the end of it and make it my legitimate website. I tried moving the files from the wp folder into my public_html folder within my Cpanel, and although that works, I no longer have admin capabilities after that.

I also changed my installation details from .com/wp to just .com, and changed the directory path from public_html/wp to just public_html within the wordpress details in my hosting package. I hope this makes sense.

In my experience, this is a better solution than what you are trying to do:
    http://codex.wordpress.org/Giving_WordPress_Its_Own_Directory#Using_a_pre-existing_subdirectory_install

However, if you really do want to clutter up the Root (/public_html/ in your case) with WordPress files, here is the documentation for that:
    http://codex.wordpress.org/Moving_WordPress#On_Your_Existing_Server
    (generic documentation on moving WordPress)
