    Hello All,
I need some serious help and advice. I run my companies blog and have been posting since 2009. The blog is http://www.reelsessions.com/reelsessions. We lost contact with our host a while back and I only have had access to our server which has been fine as of now. We are currently switching over to a new host/database. I was wondering if there is ANYWAY to transfer the blog and contents to the new server and database without having the old database info. I have a backup folder on my desktop and obviously exported by xml files. I hope there is a way around this. Let me know.

    Thanks,
    Jennifer

if you did the xml back up from the wordpress dashboard that will bring you all posts, comments and authors
after setting up a new install, just use the import function in the dashboard

also, I would recommend exporting multiple xml files to your computer in case of glitches

    Hello samboll,
I did that and it did not work. I was told that having the original database info from host was essential. I did an export and imported and it did not work.. :( any other suggestion?

    how did it not work?
database back ups are usually more reliable but not essential
