Hi, I have just moved my blog from wordpress.com to self hosted using wordpress.org. Can I move my email subscribers across to the new instance? It seems this has to be done by WP staff?

Thanks esmi. I have followed all the directions on the page you suggested. But as I understand it, the export - import function doesn't include subscribers. The page at your link doesn't mention subscribers - is there another link that does?
Similar forum posts seem to suggest that a 'Happiness engineer' needs to move subscribers.

Yes - you will need a Guided Transfer as referenced in the page I linked to above.

Subscribers as in 'People who are members of my site' or as in 'people who get emails about my updates'?

Hi Ipstenu, I'd love to move both of those groups, but from what I've read I can only move the email subscribers. Is there a way to do that? I'm not sure I need a full Guided Transfer since I've already done all the other work myself.

I'm now in the same boat! I tried "contacting" wordpress for support but it just led me to create a new forum post - which would be silly since I got the idea to contact them from this post. Can anyone help?

I've also been trying to transfer my subscribers. Everything else on my blog seemed to transfer, but I need a Happiness engineer to make my subscribers happy again.

I'm having the same problem, just moved from wordpress.com to org not getting my subscribers with me. Would you transfer them for me? I just installed a plugin newsletter, would it even be possible to move my subscribers to my newletter and not my blog (as I used the blog function on my old site as newsletter). My url is babykaos.dk for both sites. Thank you very much! -

I'm so glad to see this thread hasn't been closed! Hew, can you help me out too?
I've got just a few direct subscribers inside WP, most are using FeedBurner. I've got 8 email subs, and 13 WP users who followed me via WP not email, not sure what the term is for those.
The Subscriber panel under Tools makes it look like I can control, but I signed up as subscriber and I didn't receive my last post.
Can you transfer over? Or tell me how to do? The wp.com site is cparente.wordpress.com, and the new site is chrisparente.com.

I also need support in moving my subscribers.
I have recently moved my site from http://www.myweekendkitchen.wordpress.com to http://www.myweekendkitchen.in (wordpress org. I have installed the Jetpack plugin and connected it with my WP.com account.Please transfer my subscribers from the WP.com blog to my current site.

The subscriber number at WordPress.com includes email subscriptions plus WordPress.com reader subscriptions.
There isn't an equivalent of the WordPress.com reader on the self-hosted side. The self-hosted side only counts email subscribers.

Oh thank heaven - or perhaps thank Hew in advance? ;) - you've got a fresh thread on this. I've been pulling my hair out trying to help a friend transfer e-mail / reader subscribers from westsideaction.wordpress.com to westsideaction.com.
And yes, the new one is a WordPress.org site.

Hew -- question. I don't see any change in my control panel. Most of my subscribers are still showing as non-registered. I added them by hand a week or so ago.
Can you move these over as registered?

Hi Hew, would you please add me to the list of subscription transfers? Does these mean both the wordpress.com and email subscribers will be transferred (even if we can only see who our email subscribers are)? The URL for both my .com and .org is vibrantsexystrong.com. Thank you SO SO much.
