I have recently been able to buy a new domain name, johnlynnphotography.com I'd like to use for my photography blog. I'm using Bluehost who tell me that they can make the new url my primary instead of the current jlynn2.com. Unfortunately (as an ancient photographer)I have very little knowledge in these matters and don't know how to move all my data from one to the other. I can leave the jlynn2.com as a parked domain so that anyone trying to access my site this way will be connected. But I'm unsure what will happen once I change the WordPress and site addresses in my dashboard. I have all the files backed up with Rackspace. Any help would be much appreciated.
Back up your database as well, if you've not already.
I believe in this case, all you need to do is change the URLs in WordPress Setting's to the new domain, and then I would use a plugin to search for the old URL in posts and replace with the new one.

Thanks Ipstenu but too complicated for me. I have a feeling I'll have to call in some local help. I appreciate your help.
You're welcome :)
This is something that gets easier after you do it. Like most things, the second time, the bar is lower.
