When I schedule a post for future publishing does a Trackback get sent when I click Publish, when the post makes it's first public debut on the blog or not at all?

It goes out when you publish the article.
Sorry to be a pain - but when I click the Publish button even if the post is for the future. But then, if someone clicks on the Trackback link back to my site then they will get a post not found error right? (Because the post isn't public yet?)
No pain felt here...your assumption is correct. Until a post's timestamp is later than or equal to *now*, it remains inaccessable, except through the control panel (to edit and whatnot).
