• I upgraded and it undid all of my custom work that I spent a long time on. Thanks a lot for screwing things up. I’m pissed.

  • Did someone actually suggest that you edit the theme’s files? Whoever suggested that to you should have known that you don’t edit a theme’s files directly, but you create a child theme instead, and make your changes there in order to prevent upgrades from wiping out any changes. If you look at the top of the style.css file for the theme, there’s even this warning:

    [ Moderator note: please wrap code in backticks or use the code button. Do not use blockquote. ]

    /*
    DO NOT EDIT THIS STYLESHEET!
    Any modifications made to this file will be lost if you update the theme.
    Instead, go to Appearance > Theme Options > Layout and enter your custom CSS there or create a child theme.
    Any style attributes declared there will override the ones in this file and will not be lost during theme update.
    */

    Hi, your host might have built in BACKUP , if yes, get it to restore to a previous version, obviously before you updated..
    And, if there is no backups, it’s time to get the backup system started now, for the future. I use Backupdraft, free plugin, and it works pretty good.
    Another good idea is to keep a backup copy of changed code files on your computer, like custom.css you have added, so you could enter it into the new updated files.. Good luck, stay cool, Groggo
