This may be a duplication. I posted this on .com Support --- I think.
Anyway, I am at wit's end trying to post a tag, new or otherwise. I have been trying to add a tag to an old blog post. I went step by step through the Codex instruction and got nowhere. I try to wing it with Dashboard and get nowhere.Part of the problem is I'm not sure where to look if I managed to post a tag. WHERE is it supposed to be? I look at the end of the post and see nothing. In the Codex procedure Publish never appears. And then I read that WPress does it all automatically anyway and that I should not worry about it. And what is a slug? When I enter my URL is it supposed to have /something after it or just leave it at .com? Totally lost and I can't even find the answer in the Dummies book. I am trying to master the Dashboard functions and getting somewhere, but I keep hitting snags.

    Thanks.

You will only see tags you've added to posts display on the site if your theme is set up to display tags.

To see whether you have added tags to posts, go to the Dashboard menu. Click on Posts. A page listing your posts will display. One of that list's columns in is tags. If you have added tags, they will display there.

Getting them to display on your site depends on your theme. Some themes have settings screens where you can turn the tag display off and on. Other themes may require adding a line of code to a template if the tags don't show where you want them. Or you can look for a plugin that will let you choose where you want them, and it will do the coding for you.
