• I inadvertently deleted my homepage 2 days ago. The developer I hired to set it up for me seems to be on vacation. I’ve recreated a new homepage to the best of my ability but now cannot figure out how to assign it as my front page display.

I have tried researching this topic but don’t understand a lot of the language and can’t figure it out.

It is in 2.3.2 The developer has it using the “All in One SEO Plugin Options”. The instructions for setting the front page display all say to click on “Read” under “Options” and there is nothing like that on the options page.

    Help!

  • First of all, if you’re using WordPress 2.3.x then you better upgrade before someone totally hacks your Web site. At least upgrade to WordPress 2.6.5. Have someone help you with that. I don’t recall off hand but you might need to first upgrade to WordPress 2.5.x, then jump up to 2.6.5.

Then to set a static page (that your created using the WordPress page editor) as your home page go to Settings, then Reading, and there you can select “A static page” and choose the page name in the dropdown list and save the settings. That’s all there is to it.

Thanks for the advice. I don’t know enough to upgrade. One of my friends told me I could mess up a lot of it trying to do it on my own. I have no idea where the developer is, he’s not answering my calls. I’m in a small town and he’s pretty much it. Sigh. Guess I’ll just have to wait. There is a big long learning curve for me; I’ve put a lot into building up the site and don’t want to destroy it any further. Thanks anyway.
