• The other day I was using Cyberduck to fix up one of the web sites I take care of, and when I was done with one directory that I no longer needed, I deleted it. I left Cyberduck up and running and connected to my server because I was doing some other work.

I don’t know how, but somehow a completely unrelated web site was deleted. Gone. Like it had never been there. Someone (my 2-year-old? my 5-year-old? ME?!) must have deleted that directory.

So I still have the backup of the WordPress database for the blog that was installed in that directory. The pictures are gone, and I don’t know how recent the backup was (my web host does this automatically), but at least I have that backup.

So now I’m in the crash course on how to restore a WordPress blog from a database backup. I’ve actually been thinking of moving the site to a different domain name–would it be just as difficult to do that from the database backup as it would be to restore the blog in the original domain?

    Thanks,
