Too Bad It's a Nightmare to Install (4 posts)

This looked like the perfect slider plugin, but it requires installing Adobe Air on my PC, agreeing to Adobe terms, etc. before using (between that and my firewall warnings, installation ended up taking ten minutes), then it required entering my name and email address. After that, I still kept getting popups to update Adobe Air.

Imagine how challenging it would be to build and maintain WordPress websites if all plugins were this time-consuming and intrusive to use.

    No thanks--uninstalled and unimpressed.

    Hi,

Thanks for your interest in EasyRotator, and I'm sorry it didn't meet your needs. The experience you ran into is certainly not typical, and I understand how wasting time can be quite annoying, so I'm sorry it turned out this way for you.

The external editor application allows for more efficient and powerful editing features; for example, images can be resized and optimized before being uploaded to the web. Obviously, not every plugin is perfect for every use case. EasyRotator for WordPress is well maintained and offers extensive functionality. Many other plugins are more limited and/or don't receive regular maintenance. While the up-front setup usually takes a minute or two (definitely not as long as you experienced), we believe that the long-term benefits outweigh the initial investment.

Again, I'm sorry that EasyRotator didn't meet your needs. Please don't hesitate to get in touch if I may provide any additional assistance.

    Sincerely,
    Drew O'Neill

Thanks for the reply, Drew! Five stars for customer service, anyway. And you make some valid points. My firewall interfered with and slowed down the process. Adobe programs can be intrusive, so I had to take the time to verify all of the options/selections. Then when I thought I had finished and was forced to enter my email address, only to have Adobe Air updates pop up, that's where I drew the line and gave up.

As a website developer, I don't want to have to go to so much trouble to install something on my PC, knowing that my client will have to do the same in order to use it. I assume we would have to install the program on every device that we access the WP dashboard from, as well.

It would be helpful if you could reduce the number of steps required to use this. It looks to be quite a useful plugin. Thanks again for the response--cheers!

    Hi,

We really appreciate the feedback. We will continue to try to streamline the process as much as possible while working within the limitations that Adobe places on us.

    Sincerely
    Drew O'Neill
