To Multisite or not to Multisite... (4 posts)

    Someone is asking me to create a multisite for them. They own 2 restaurants in the same city and they want to showcase both seperately because each has it's own opening hours, it's own menu, etc... Oh! And they want it in 2 languages.

    My questions are:

    I'm not a programmer and I'm not a WP pro. Is multisite something I shouldn't even try?

    Do I even need to build a multisite?
    Is there not another solution for this situation (eg. use categories)?

    Thanks for the advice.

    The first question you need to ask is whether they want to administer/maintain the two "sites" separately. Even using multisite, each site has its own admin area.

    It would not be an absolute requirement. There would be only one of the owners to have access to the site to add pictures, change the menu items ore prices when necessary, etc...

    It's just that they want an intro page that takes you to either one of the sites, eg:

    1 - Main intro/splash page -> link to Rest 1 and Rest 2 Homepage,

    2 - HomePage for restaurant 1 with all independent nav menus and submenus

    3 - HomePage for restaurant 2 with all independent nav menus and submenus

    Can this structure be accomplished without using a multisite structure?

  4. Yes, you can do that with or without Multisite. You can make page templates and customize them as you see fit.
