To a Moderator: who do I report plugins repo SPAM to? (8 posts)

I'd like to report a plugin author (JR) who pushes his 25 + plugins every 3 days or so in the repository's "Recently Updated" section by simply making minor changes in the readme file (such as adding "more bug fixes" and bumping the version number.

It's obvious that this person's sole purpose for doing so is a marketing ploy to receive donations (all of his plugins have a large Donate button in the options page) and IMO, this is Spamming.

Is there anyone who could investigate this?

Refer to the plugin in the URL.

You might also put a link to that plugin here.

I've removed the tags from this post that were publicizing these plugins even further...

LOL, good idea, anyway, I'm sure that whoever takes care of such complaints must have read this thread.

    Cheers!

By the way, the plugin developer responded to a related thread at WP Tavern.

I read the entire thread and IMO, the author had "not so honest" intentions to begin with. IMO, he bumped his plugins every 3 - 4 days hoping for users to download his plugins as a marketing ploy (SEO/spam links or his Donate button).

Clearly, the author got "caught with his hand in the cookie jar" and IMHO, admission of guilt and modifying his plugins to comply with WP's regulations are not valid excuses to have his plugins reinstated.

Granted that the final decision is up to the WP plugins crew but if he were to be given a second chance, he should be monitored closely and not be allowed to bump over 30 plugins so frequently simply in the hopes of monetary gains.

Good work for banning Jake Rushton, these JR plugins were somewhat poorly written, however it's clear that there was no honest intent to inform users what the consequences of using these plugins would be.
