Hi all, this is my first post and is probably easy to solve so please excuse my stupidity and be gentle :)
Ok, my page is ranked BUT the title of the site on the google search page is "My Blog" not the actual title of my blog which is what I want it to say. Also the info underneath the title is just a part of one of my first posts and not the tag underneath my actual blog title.
I've got All-in one SEO" plugin and put all the correct info in there so what am I doing wrong? How do I get google to state the actual title and description of my site to say what it should?
cheers
David
Go to appearance and edit your header.php and put this code before the <title>
<meta name="robots" content="index,follow" />
<meta name="description" content="PUT YOUR SITE DESCRIPTION HERE." />
<meta name="keywords" content="PUT YOUR KEY WORD HERE" />
thats it!
Thanks for the reply. Ok bear with me here please.
The title of my blog is "Groom Wed Speech-Handy Hints"
and the description underneath says "How YOU can wow everyone with YOUR speech"
It actually says that already on my page but it doesn't on (currently) page 3 of google. So just to clarify, do i put the actual title into where u say "PUT YOUR SITE DESCRIPTION HERE. and the statement into where u say "PUT YOUR KEY WORD HERE"
I remain a bit confused but grateful for your help so far
Give it time. Google probably haven't recrawled your site since you changed it. Once they do, give it a couple of days and any changes usually show in their index. It's not an instant thing. Just be patient.
Many thanks my friends. :) Being new to this overall (only been at it for about 3 weeks) and not being fully aware of the ins and outs, I think one tends to think one has ballsed up big style when one can't see the results instantly.
Cheers, I'll keep my eye on it.
