   I wish to add a title page to my site, so the visitor would be greeted by something other than the blog when they go to the URL.

   Do I need to install wp differently if I want to add this later? Right now I just uploaded it to my root directory.

   You can make a Page (Write->Write Page) and use it as your front page with the plugin found here:
