[resolved] Tips on importing events into The Events Calendar? (3 posts)

I'm increasingly mulling over a switch to The Events Calendar. Very nice feature set, and I am practically drooling over the Eventbrite integration. However... I have a bunch of events already, and the thought of manually copying them over to the new table(s) just makes my head hurt. Does anyone have any tips on how to convert or import Events Calendar data into The Events Calendar data?

Haven't looked into it but if you do it manually and carefully document the steps and post them here, I bet some smart person might make an import script!

On the note of imports, we have just finished the first alpha of an import for eventbrite, which will allow you to import all open and past events from an eventbrite account into wordpress.

    Thanks, Shane.

Thing is, I just took a peek via a test WP install with the TEC plugin and a few test events, and saw to my horror that the event data is stuffed in the WP-maintained postmeta table - therefore sharing the same vulnerability issues that make e.g. custom user field data stored in the (also canonical) usermeta table prone to crashes and muck-ups. And with tons of posts and pages, that's not a good thing. Pity; else, converting could have been a matter of fiddling about a bit in a spreadsheet and then dumping the amended data back into the (pertinent) table. Sorry... I'll revisit it once The Events Calendar has its own table(s).
