   How can the TinyMCE text area be made "fixed width" for creating and editing pages and posts.

   I have a fixed width style for my website and so to get a true WYSIWYG feel when creating or editing I am looking to make the textarea a fixed width equal to the website content width.

   Hi Darinm,

   I tried that once but off course you would need to have your theme's style.css also applied because of the margins, font-sizes etc to get the true WYSIWYG.
   That said, it stays my main pain in the xxx that WP's WYSIWYG is far from WYSIWYG if you want your site to look good. My preview button is worn out already :)
