I have two WordPress sites, both of which use Black Studio TinyMCE extensively. One works perfectly. The other has developed a problem with every widget area where TinyMCE is being used.

When I open up any of these widget areas on the http://www.tomatotriangle.com site, the text that displays in the widget area briefly flashes and then disappears. None of the TinyMCE tools display in these widget areas. I cannot see or edit the text in any of the widget areas using either the visual or html tab.

I have tried to edit these widget areas using both IE and Chrome. Both browsers have the same problem. The other site, when opened on the same computer does not have this problem. Both sites have the latest WordPress version and all plugins are up to date.

Can someone please help me figure out what the problem is?

    Thanks,

    Bob

I think there must be a conflict with another plugin or with the theme. Please try to temporarily switch to another theme and/or selectively disable other plugins. Also take a look to your browser javascript error console and check if it reports some error.

Thanks Marco. I tried your suggestions. The problem followed a change to a couple of other themes. Removing plugins did not change anything. The only plugin that I did not remove was TinyMCE itself. I am concerned that if I do that and reinstall, all my content will be gone.

    Any other thoughts?

Please try to look at javascript error console if you find something useful.
Otherwise, could you provide an admin access to your website? You can send it to us safely via our contact form.

I am too new to WP to know anything about the javascript error console but I am happy to provide you access to the site. How do I do that?

    Hi there,
I checked your site and I found this issue is not caused by our plugin. The culprit is the wp-hover plugin, which breaks the editor completely. It breaks also the standard WP post/page editor, not just the widget one.
I’d recommend not to use it, since the last version is more than FOUR years old.
    Regards.

Thanks Marco. That did the trick. I had that plugin deactivated but I guess just having the files on the site was causing problems. Once I deleted the plugin, everything worked as it should. I learned something new today.

    Hi there!

If I understood right, I have the adjacent problem. This picture will explain better:
