• After updating to 3.8 TinyMCE disappeared. It shows nothing but blank window and 2 tabs. Originally it is set to visual and it refuses to switch to text.

When typing text inside this window, it appears white. No buttons, no nothing is shown.

    Manual upgrade didn’t fix it
    Automatic re-upgrade didn’t fix it
    Disabling plugins didn’t work
    Restarting server didn’t work

  • Have you tried:

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder and wp-config.php & root .htaccess files – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

What method did you use to reset the plugins?

renaming original folder and creating a new one

Can you try the PHPmyadmin method of resetting plugins? I have known of situations where this has been the only way to kill some especially problematic plugins.

My website is on “Jelastic cloud”, there is no phpMyAdmin there πŸ™

What tool do you use to manage your database(s)?

Well it was very late hour yesterday, so I made a mistake. I found PHPmyadmin and performed plugin reset by deactivating all of them in the DB. It doesn’t work. BTW, I logged in through iPhone and it TinyMCE works there for some reason.

Has anyone solved such problem yet? I can’t work πŸ™

Disabled visual editor and then enabled again. Editor appeared once and disappeared again. This method works no more for some reason.

    Hello,

I have the exact same issue here, although I did not upgrade to WordPress 3.8 and I am still on 3.6.1 (haven’t upgraded since install, I know).

All of a sudden since a few days ago the Editor stopped working, or it is sometimes working, but on a whole is not. It does not seem to happen on viewing the post initially but when saving a draft or publishing, the editor refreshes with the exact same thing as yours.

    Heres a screenshot: http://i.imgur.com/i4JQBMq.png
Both the Text and Visual tab are broken/unresponsive.

My console in Chrome is giving me a 500 error on the TinyMCE PHP file, followed by the Javascript uncaught reference error.

What I find bizarre is that nothing has updated, I have no new plugins, no updates, nothing strange and the server is not exhibiting any issues, low cpu and memory usage.

    Any fixes/suggestions will be appreciated!

I am not sure how TinyMCE works, but does it connect to a remote server (to maybe update the spellchecker)?

Could this be a problem on another end?

I’ve reupdated whole WP installation again. Nothing. Until the new version of WP with bugs fixed I installed FCKEditor. It works πŸ˜‰

Tried installing plugin for google js libraries. Nothing happened.
