• Resolved blogOTR

    (@blogotr)

    Hi,

I have a wordpress site (http://blogotr.com) and it runs quickly and I’m quite happy with it.

However, when adding a new post or editing an old one, it takes a long time for the site to complete the task – like several minutes just to post or save a draft.

Does anyone know what the problem is and how I could fix it?

    Thank you!

  • Try unchecking pingbacks/track backs before saving. I’m not sure if these can still be an issue but they used to sometimes slow down sites on cheap hosting.

    Whats your host like?

    Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of your current version of WordPress.

Thanks for the advice! I’ll follow it and then post what I learn.

I consulted my fellow admin of the site (who knows more about this sort of thing) and he deactivated Facebook’s official WordPress plugin and that solved the problem.

So I’m glad it’s resolved but kinda disappointed I can’t use the Facebook plugin.

    Thanks again, everyone.

I’m marking this as resolved and may make a new thread about the troublesome Facebook plugin.
