[resolved] Tiled Galleries Not Displaying (34 posts)

    The gallery is displaying but not as tiled:http://www.teereviewer.com/2013/01/10/4-sleeved-monsters-university-t-shirt-monsters-inc/

    I have installed the Tiled Galleries module and the shortcode embed module. I inserted the gallery using this:

    [gallery type="rectangular" link="file" ids="10672,10671,10670,10669,10667"]

    Any ideas?

    You seem to be using another Gallery plugin (lightbox 2).
    Could you try to deactivate it, and see if that helps?

    If the problem remains, could you post a screenshot of your Jetpack menu?

    Thanks!

    Thanks for the reply.

    I am using Lightbox 2 but disabling it didn't help. I had tried it.
    It's not really a gallery plugin. Just a lightbox.

    Is this the JetPack Menu?

    Could you try to deactivate Lightbox 2 again, for a few minutes, so I can check how it looks without it?

    Deactivated.

    Thank you. If you enable the carousel module, do you still experience issues?

    Yes. It's enabled now...but I had tried that too.

    I disabled all the plugins (almost) and still had the same issue so I tried a different theme and then...
    It's seems to be a theme conflict.

    Alright. It seems that the Javascript librairies and stylesheets used to control Carousel and the Tiled Galleries do not load on your site. They should appear in your site's footer.

    Could you check your theme's footer.php file for a call to wp_footer()?

    If you do not see such function, could you add it right before the closing </body> tag?
    <?php wp_footer ?>

    It seems to be there:

    <?php do_atomic( 'close_body' ); // path_close_body ?>

    	<?php wp_footer(); // wp_footer ?>

    </body>

    I just noticed the Quick Cache plugin. Was it active before? Could you try to clear the cache on that page? It might be why we don't see the new librairies and stylesheets.

    If that doesn't help, could you look for functions altering wp_footer() in your theme?

    It was active but I cleared it. Originally (and now) it was disabled.

    I wouldn't know where to look for functions in the theme but below is the footer file. I will ask the theme author tomorrow.

    <?php
    /**
     * Footer Template
     *
     * The footer template is generally used on every page of your site. Nearly all other
     * templates call it somewhere near the bottom of the file. It is used mostly as a closing
     * wrapper, which is opened with the header.php file. It also executes key functions needed
     * by the theme, child themes, and plugins.
     *
     * @package Path
     * @subpackage Template
     * @since 0.1.0
     */
    ?>
    				<?php get_sidebar( 'primary' ); // Loads the sidebar-primary.php template. ?>

    				<?php get_sidebar( 'secondary' ); // Loads the sidebar-secondary.php template. ?>

    				<?php do_atomic( 'close_main' ); // path_close_main ?>

    			</div><!-- .wrap -->

    			<?php get_sidebar( 'subsidiary' ); // Loads the sidebar-subsidiary.php template. ?>

    			<?php get_template_part( 'menu', 'primary-mobile' ); // Loads the menu-primary-mobile.php template. ?>

    			<?php get_template_part( 'menu', 'secondary-mobile' ); // Loads the menu-secondary-mobile.php template. ?>

    		</div><!-- #main -->

    		<?php do_atomic( 'after_main' ); // path_after_main ?>

    		<?php do_atomic( 'before_footer' ); // path_before_footer ?>

    		<footer id="footer">

    			<?php do_atomic( 'open_footer' ); // path_open_footer ?>

    			<div class="wrap">

    				<div class="footer-content">

    					<?php hybrid_footer_content(); ?>
    				</div>

    				<?php do_atomic( 'footer' ); // path_footer ?>

    			</div><!-- .wrap -->

    			<?php do_atomic( 'close_footer' ); // path_close_footer ?>

    		</footer><!-- #footer -->

    		<?php do_atomic( 'after_footer' ); // path_after_footer ?>

    		<?php get_template_part( 'menu', 'subsidiary' ); // Loads the menu-subsidiary.php template. ?>

    	</div><!-- #container -->

    	<?php do_atomic( 'close_body' ); // path_close_body ?>

    <?php wp_footer(); // wp_footer ?>

    </body>
    </html>

    Hi. Just to let you know that I found the solution and that this will be a problem with most or all ThemeHybrid themes. But there is an easy fix and that is:

    Put this in child theme functions.php inside setup function to test it out.

    remove_theme_support( 'cleaner-gallery' );

    Here's something to think about for future releases:

    Basically, Jetpack just decides that if another theme/plugin is overwriting the gallery, it will do nothing. Instead, it should just overwrite it because, obviously, the user wants to use that functionality. I don't understand the reasoning behind their decision to do nothing. - Justin Tadlock

    While overwriting another plugin might not be the best solution, I agree that the current solution is not ideal.
    We plan on making improvements to the Tiled Galleries code to fix that!

    I think the above solution from deadhippo, sounds like it might solve my problem. However, I'm a newbie when it comes to code.

    I pasted the above code in my themes function.php here:

    function esplanade_theme_setup() {
    	remove_theme_support( 'cleaner-gallery' );
     	// Set default content width based on the theme's layout. This affects the width of post images and embedded media.
    	global $content_width;
    	if( ! isset( $content_width ) ) $content_width = 700;

    This seemed to have no effect and my them still used it's default lightbox gallery instead of tiled+carousel.

    @jchinn_wildcat Do you use the Cleaner Gallery plugin, or a ThemeHybrid theme?

    If you use another Gallery plugin, this solution won't work.

    Could you post your site URL, so I can have a look?

    Thanks a ton for responding.

    No I don't use the Cleaner Gallery plugin or a ThemeHybrid. I'm using the Esplanade theme from onedesigns, which I believe uses lightbox.

    Here is my url: http://www.arizonaalumni.com/blog .

    I also tried replacing 'cleaner-gallery' with 'lightbox', but that didn't work.

    Could you go to the Jetpack menu in your dashboard, and disconnect / reconnect to WordPress.com? Your Jetpack connection doesn't seem to be properly working right now.

    Thanks!

    So, what happened with this? I also use a theme from onedesigns (Pinboard) and have exactly the same issue, tiled mosaic selected but not properly working, and I would like to know how to fix it.

    Hi Jeremy,

    I have a bit of the opposite issue from those before, in that I wanted to use the lightbox effect for Tiled galleries, but it was going to the post instead (no matter what I did when saving its features to go to Media File instead of Attachment Page), which is not nearly as pretty. :)

    So, I Activated the Carousel feature to see if that works -- and it does. But I would prefer the Tiled Galleries click to a lightbox effect -- and now I can't find where to disable the Carousel to keep working at lightbox display... I guess my issue is two-fold in that sense: a). deactivate carousel in favor of b). a *working* lightbox.

    Site: http://dev.cherrycountyplayhouse.org/scrapbook/tommy/
    It's a basic 2012 install with minimal plugins at this point, so I couldn't discern any conflicts...

    Can you help? Thanks in advance!

    You can find out how to deactivate Jetpack modules here:
    http://jetpack.me/support/#turn-off-jetpack-modules

    Once you have deactivated Carousel, you can pick another lightbox plugin in the repository:
    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/search.php?q=lightbox

    Ah, the Deactivate button is 'hidden' until you click Learn More. :)

    So, the lightbox affect is not native to Jetpack?

    I have Easy FancyBox working in conjunction with Jetpack on: http://www.zahnhomes.com/portfolio/great-rooms/ but Easy FancyBox is not working nicely with: http://dev.cherrycountyplayhouse.org/scrapbook/tommy/ yet, now that I installed it and activated it (after deactivating Carousel).

    Any thoughts?

    I checked your test site, and I do not see any mentions of Fancybox in the gallery code.

    Can you check that you currently run the same versions of Jetpack and Fancybox on both sites? Are there any differences between the 2 sites? Additional plugins, maybe?

    I went into the test site now, deactivated Easy Fancybox, and added a different lightbox plugin (per the list you suggested), called: Lightbox Plus ColorBox -- it is now activated. Still no lightbox functionality on http://dev.cherrycountyplayhouse.org/scrapbook/tommy/.

    I went into the Gallery Settings for that page, and confirmed the Gallery Settings were set to:
    - Link To: Media File
    - Type: Tiled Mosaic
    ... but clicking the first image takes me to a page instead of the Media File: http://dev.cherrycountyplayhouse.org/scrapbook/tommy/tommygypsy2/

    The only Plugins remaining are:
    - Akismet (inactive)
    - Easy Fancybox (inactive)
    - BackupBuddy
    - Gravity Forms
    - Jetpack for WordPress
    - Lightbox Plus ColorBox

    That's it. Still no lightbox...

    Any further thoughts? Thanks in advance!
