So I’m uploading images to my portfolio website. These are large portrait images. I set the image as the featured image. When I view my thumbnails, they take forever to load since they’re loading in just a squashed version of the whole image. So I then go in to edit my featured image, crop to a new thumbnail size. Save, update, then refresh the page. Nope. My cropped thumbnail still isn’t showing.

I’m using 1and1 as my host. Any ideas?

  • Once you’ve cropped the image, you’ll need to re-insert the cropped image in your post. When you crop an image, it makes a new version and saves it in your uploads, but doesn’t replace the original.

Personally, I find it way easier to resize in Photoshop prior to uploading to WordPress.

Thanks! I usually use Photoshop but since I have so many images I want to put up…

Try using Crop Me, that may be easier than Photoshop.
