I've upgraded to 2.9 as requested - but now have the problem that the photos on my weblog at http://intheboatshed.net no longer pop up when the reader clicks on them.
I'd very much like to get that feature back please - is there some switch somewhere that would allow me to turn this back on please?

It works on an individual post (like here and then the Vietnam boat: http://intheboatshed.net/category/free-boat-canoe-yacht-plans/) that is probably generated by single.php but not on the frontpage that is generated by index.php
So check the differences between these files.

Henk - I can't get the thumbnails to pop up on single posts either. I've no idea why this should be different for each of us.
If anyone has any ideas, I'd be most grateful to hear about them please.

Gav, sorry, it's not really popping up; it opens in the same browser window and I have to use the browsers back button to go back to the post.
On your frontpage, this picture: Illustration-for-intheboatshed-261x340.jpg which is clearly a WP generated size, does have no link or click option at all.
Were your pictures popping up while the background was sort of fading?
If yes, do you have a plugin for that like Lightbox or Shutter Reloaded?
If yes, is that still activated or does it need an upgrae too?

Thanks Henk - no, I haven't been using a plugin for this as it seemed to be working perfectly under previous Wp versions.
The way forward might be to install one, I guess.

I've installed Shutter Reloaded, which works nicely on the pre-2.9 posts, but hasn't magically made the new ones popup as I'd like them to. I can't look at it just now, but I'll give it some thought around lunchtime.

You will find the setings for Shutter Reloaded under Appearence. I work with the third choice that make's image sets of all images in one post. You can then flip through the three images in this post without closing the pop-up. http://intheboatshed.net/category/boat-plans-books-plans/page/2/

I've found the answer. It seems that, for me at least, Wp's default setting is now no link to the original file. However, I can quite easily insert them individually using the pic placing device.
