Thumbnails as clickable links? Instead of Post Title.

Hi all, I’m looking to display my Posts as Image Thumbnails on the home page (not clickable Title links)

Example: I want to create a new Post and insert an image of a Car (no title). I then go to the home page and see just the thumbnail of the car and I click that to see the actual Post (which has larger version of the car).

All points are important and must follow the example.

Can someone point me in the right direction? I tried a few gallery plugins but none seem to do this.
