I’ve just upgraded to 2.7.1 and the move went pretty well. However, I’ve noticed that when I upload and add an image, specifying a thumbnail, that the thumbnail gets created and placed nect to the text. But no link? I have tried both the flash upload and the browser upload — no difference. I have verified my misc settings (for stray forward slashes) and it is all correct. I am using a Paalam theme but I can’t think why that would be a problem? I have noticed via my FTP that the actual files are being created (thumbnail and full sized versions) but that they are not being placed into the correct date folder in uploads.(they are being placed in Febs folder?) and yes..I have the organize by month and year folders toggle checked.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

  • Hi

This may help, when inserting images make sure you click “File URL” button for link URL.

    Thanks

I am not sure if this resolves it, but I found a work around. After checking again via FTP, I can see that the thumbnail image and the regular image are being made. Apparently these images are made during the upload and deposited into the appropriate year/month folder. I select alignment/thumbnail via the media dialog and then press insert into post.

This gives me the thumbnail next to my text in the visual tab. I then switch to the HTML tab and change alignleft to style=”float: left;(because the text wraps around the thumbnail better.) The next part of the code seems to be calling the thumbnail image and for a link it calls the same (smaller image) thus producing “no” link because the image is already visible. So I change the src of this second part to reflect the name of the full size image that is in that same folder.

When I test it I get my thumbnail, my text wrap, and my link to my full size image, and it all seems to work. WHY, the script does not do this to begin with is beyond me? I am a hack HTML coder at best (I draw little pictures for a living.)

If anybody can tell me why this might be doing this So I don’t have to hand code (alter) the script solution each time I place a picture It would be helpful.

Leave it to an artist to find the most complicated solution to the most simple problem. clicking “find URL” button worked like a champ. I feel like an idiot, but honestly I though I selected that button a dozen times and got nothing, and I don’t remember having to do that with the prior version, which is why I guess they call this a new version. Thanks for your help.

    Wallking away sheepishly …
