[resolved] Thumbnail archive by month (8 posts)

I currently post a thumbnail of each photo into 'Optional Excerpt' -- and have created a dedicated page template that shows all thumbnails.

My knowledge has run out -- I can show 'all' but I want to be able to show only one month of excerpts/thumbs and then to be able to scroll or to choose previous months excerpts/thumbs in some way.

Can anyone help with code/suggestions that might help me do that please? Using WP2.02 with K2.

    Thanks!

hmmm... maybe by use of the archive files? I'm not exactly sure what you are trying to do...

When you go to the thumbs page now you can see up to 200 of my photos as thumbnails.

What I would like is to only show a 'month of thumbs' at a time (which I can do using WP_Query) BUT what I can't figure out is how then to scroll to the previous month (as per 'previous' and 'next post') or if that can't work (because this is a page) then something else.

It is archive of Thumbs (in excerpts), but on a page. Maybe I've been doing things wrong from the beginning :-))

    Thanks Kahil...

hmmmm... OK... I think that to get it to do exactly what you want, it'll have to be done the hard way. By that I mean that I don't think there is a way to make it do that automatically. You'll probably have to make a page for each month, then make your own links to the next and previous months on the pages. I used to do something like this for my photo gallery before I started utilizing the lightbox script. Its tedious in the beginning with all the customizing of templates and css, but once you get it started its easy to just add the thumbnails as you go...

    does that make sense?

the other option is to try to find an existing plugin that does something similar to what you want to do and then either mod it yourself or see if that plugin's developer can help with that...

    good luck!!!
