   I navigated to my wordpress site with firefox and was told by AVG antivirus that it contained a threat. The filename was as follows
   http://www.stephenmassey.net/wp-includes/js/tinymce/plugins/spellchecker/includes/twitter-widget.php
   http://www.stephenmassey.net is my web address. I have recently installed jetpack.???????? Can you help?

   I have deleted jetpack plugin but the threat still remains////

   has nothing to do with jetpack

   run your site through the scanner here and it will give you locations infected

   Thank you for your advice Samuel B and Esmi.
   I was able to upload a saved back up of the site and also found a stranger had appeared as an admin so I deleted him and changed my password and log in name etc
