My hosting company told me my thumb.php file was outdated. Will updating my theme take care of that? If not, I could use some help even in that simple thing as updating that file. Then, I will need some help because even after that's fixed my plugins have already been compromised. I reinstalled wordpress also. Do I need to delete my site completely and start over? (Plugins: cannot access settings on most of them---I am redirected every time to mailchimp settings and plugins were the vulnerability issue with that thumb.php file)

Yea, I cant' even get into my admin for wordpress at all now!! Is it still fixable???
yes, read those links. You need to clean things up from the backend, the server

I cannot access anything now---wp-admin has been compromised. Do I need to tell my host company to shut it down?

They've changed some things in my public files already!!! But I am not even close to being a programmer or VA. I could use some more help!!
You don't need Admin access to carry out the steps detailed in the links I gave above. If you cannot carry out the work yourself, you may want to consider hiring someone but bear in mind, cleaning up a hacked site can be a time-consuming process, so it could be expensive.
When those instructions talk about manipulating files, they do not mean through the wp-admin area
You will be using an ftp program (like filezilla) or a file manager (if your host offers one) to directly access your files on the server
