[resolved] TheThe Tabs and Accordions Broke and Gone (18 posts)

TheThe Tabs and Accordions no longer works with WP 3.5.1 - one of its broken manifestations is to hide Elegant Themes menus. It is also no longer available for installation.

The way it just broke and disappeared is disheartening - no communication from the developer, apparently no potential for a fix going forward.

It brings into question all of the other "TheThe" plugins - not sure I want to base my development on a platform that may just go away or break without any communication. Not very professional.

    It's annoying, isn't it?

If you're interested I spent the weekend finding a suitable drop-in replacement for doing the accordion side of things, I've shared my findings on my blog (http://squelchdesign.com/web_design_newbury/replacement-thethe-tabs-and-accordions-how-to/) and even created a video tutorial demonstrating how to replace TheThe Tabs and Accordions with an alternative (http://youtu.be/hi9CAcuJ40A).

Matt, thank you! Yes, I've been researching this as well, and will check out your blog. Thanks again for responding.

Just letting other readers know that Matt's simple fix worked flawlessly for me and covers both vertical and horizontal accordions. Time to implement was under 3 minutes per website.

Here are deep-link URLS to two of the sites where I have implemented this:

    1. http://www.healinginspirations-wi.com/practices/

    2a. http://www.hammislaw.com/individual-practice-areas/
    2b. http://www.hammislaw.com/business-practice-areas/

    Matt, thanks again!

I've also noticed the plugin disappeared. It will be really annoying to replace the tabs with some other, so I'll put it aside as long as possible :/
Sadly, as Matt Lowe said in an other topic - if there is no update, it has to be changed some day.

If anyone from TheThe is reading this - you could continue to develop the plugin, for payment. $5-$10 maybe? It's a really useful plugin, the best I saw of its kind. I'd be ready to pay for it, if developed and supported.

Pls let me know ... so I can start to implement the Matt's update

Maurixx - I think it is affected - looks like the main page in Italiano has a broken accordion. If you updated WordPress to 3.5.1 then it most surely is broken.

@maurixx - now it seems to work, did you change anything?

btw. what's the name of your menu-plugin (if you use one, but it looks like a plugin)? I've been looking for something like this.

Yes I've added the Matt's quick solution ... When I'll have time I'll switch to the final solution

About the menu ... I used the Broadside 1.0 Theme by ProgressionStudios

    Hope this helps

    Ciao

Yes, I see that Maurixx pages are now working properly; they were not when I went there earlier.

Thanks guys, sorry I didn't see your messages here (seems I forgot to click "Notify me of replies"). You'll all (hopefully) be excited to hear that I've created an alternative plugin that is designed to be compatible with the shortcodes used by TheThe Tabs and Accordions. It supports tabs, accordions and horizontal accordions. It doesn't support toggles yet but that is planned. It should be as easy as disabling TheThe Tabs and Accordions and installing Squelch Tabs and Accordions Shortcodes. Don't forget to remove my thethe_fix() from your functions.php too (or you'll get a warning telling you to remove it)!

You can get the plugin from the plugin repository (search for "squelch" and you'll see it) or you can get it from the plugin page on wordpress.org: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/squelch-tabs-and-accordions-shortcodes/

If you have any problems using the plugin then please leave a comment in the forum and I'll get back to you asap. I'd appreciate it if you could give it a try and see how you get on.

Matt, that's awesome and THANK YOU for taking the time to do this.

I have not downloaded it yet - does it also do both horizontal and vertical accordions?

Here's an example from a page on one of my sites with your "thethefix()" applied... http://www.healinginspirations-wi.com/practices/ Just open one of the horizontal accordions then vertical inside of that.

Hi Randy, yes it does both horizontal and vertical accordions. It doesn't yet implement alternate animations (I see you're using the bounce animation) but I'll be looking at that as soon as I get time. Also, the plugin hasn't been tested on anything but WP 3.5.1 so far, if you're not on the latest version then I can't be sure it will work.

I suggest to anyone upgrading from TheThe Tabs and Accordions that you DISABLE TheThe Tabs and Accordions and then install Squelch Tabs and Accordions Shortcodes. That way, if it doesn't work out for you, you can easily revert to TheThe Tabs and Accordions while I look at your issue.

OK, I just tested the plugin in 3.4.2 and it doesn't work there. It works in 3.5 and above ONLY at the moment. I'll get a fix in for you guys on older versions of WordPress (upgrade already!! ;) asap.

Wanted to write you it doesn't work for 3.4.2, but you were faster ;) Thank you again for the effort - we really appreciate that!

I'll switch to your plugin as soon as it works with 3.4.2 and toggles (but no worries and no hurry - your fix is still doing well) :)

Hey piotrek... 0.1.1 has been released and it should work with 3.4.2, but toggles aren't done yet.
