I have come across numerous themes , most of them excellent but alas even the good ones are lacking in one area... the way the comments are displayed in almost all the themes are quite horrible... even I am short of ideas for my blog in design ... could you guys show me links to some really good themes or sites that tackle the display of comments nicely... actuallY I've come across just one site, the does a pretty decent job with the comments... http://www.phrixus.co.uk/pxsmail/

Personally, I prefer ColdForged's comments, but they are a custom job. However, he has been kind enough to provide a tutorial here: http://www.coldforged.org/archives/2005/04/19/coldforgeds-wordpress-comment-template-deconstructed-part-1/
Beyond that, I haven't seen any pre-made WordPress themes with comment areas that are as unique as some of the custom jobs that I've seen, but I haven't seen them all either. I have been thinking about your question, and I noticed mathibus.com has neat styles in the Comment section, particularly how the site author's reply comments are distinguished from the readership-comments. The author's comments have a special background, and border. Each comment 'lights up' with a border on mouseover. The giant blue smart-quote marks look great to me. http://mathibus.com/
