• I have just uploaded 3 themes from different sources – they are all on the (newly installed) website.

But index.php gives me this message on all of them.

Fatal error: Call to undefined function get_header() in /home/babieszo/public_html/wp-content/themes/baby-blogging/index.php on line 1

My tame php whizz says it’s got him stumped and as I’m barely technical enough to microwave a pizza a little assistance would really be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance
    Boney

  • are you talking about seeing this sort of thing:

    http://grumpyoldchef.com/blog/wp-content/themes/almost-spring/

thats normal. those files are not intended to be loaded directly in a browser.

I am looking for a step by step HELP file instead of posting hundreds of question here. Anyone know of a step by step FAQ or help file?

    Like this has no explaination;

    >> Part One – Installation Instructions:

    >> Now go to design -> themes and activate the theme <<

You would think there would be a detail as to what it means to “ACTIVATE” the theme.

    >> Part Two – Setting up the Main Navigation

Before setting up the navigation, create an archives page in your admin panel (you should have two pages “about” & “archives”) <<

Why not add to the help file INFO or a link on how, when and what to “create an archives page”

I willl pay big money for a help file, FAQ , etc that you can read and follow step by step.

    You mean docs like these?

    http://codex.wordpress.org/Using_Themes

    Selecting the Active Theme
To select the active theme for your site:

Log in to the WordPress Administration Panels.
Select the Design subpanel, then Themes.
From the Available Themes section, click on theme title (or theme screenshot) for the theme you wish to activate.
A preview of the theme will be shown to activate theme click the Activate “Theme Name” link in the top right.
Your selection should immediately become active.

The above instruction applies for the 2 of ‘default’ themes. But once I try to activate one from the WordPress theme directory, it DOES NOT WORK. At least for me.
    This is what I do:
Log in to the WordPress Administration Panels.
Select the Design subpanel, then Themes.
From the ‘GET MORE THEMES’ section, I click on theme title (or theme screenshot) for the theme I wish to activate.
I press the button ‘download’. The theme (zip folder is downloading).
Then nothing happens – I cannot find the theme anywhere!

    SO
The below does not work for me or I use it in the wrong way:

‘You can find additional themes for your site in the WordPress theme directory. To install a theme you generally just need to upload the theme folder into your wp-content/themes directory. Once a theme is uploaded, you should see it on this page.

I never see it on my page.

    Can anyone please guide me?
    Thanks so much.
    Alex
