I'm just about ready to start something on WordPress. My question
I want to start posting articles ( Are these called, Posts, Blogs or
Articles??
I want to start with articles, than design a web site.
I would like the articles I post to have a header at the top with my
web site name on it.
Do I need a Theme to set this up this way??

Posts. A blog is the whole site (or at least the whole Posts part of it).

You need at least one theme in order to use WordPress but it currently ships with two - Twenty Eleven (the current default theme) and Twenty Ten (the previous default theme). I'd suggest starting with one of them. Twenty Eleven will be automatically activated (used on your site) when you install WordPress but you can switch to another theme - with no loss of actual content - whenever you want by simply selecting another installed theme.
